I’m the RIC/Assignor for St. Paul, Glendon and Mallaig minor hockey.
I have been officiating for over 30 years
What level of hockey do you officiate?
I officiate Senior men, Jr B and all levels of minor hockey.
What do you do to prepare for a game?
I try to be a the rink 45 minutes before my game, I stretch, read a bit of the rule book, and discuss key points with my fellow officials.
How/why did you become an official?
The reason why I became an official is I wanted to give back the community and I love being on the ice.
What is your favourite part of officiating?
The best part of officiating is being on the ice and enjoying the game. Also, I like supervising the upcoming young/older officials to give them the experience they need to excel.
What is your job/career?
I work at Xtreme Oilfield
What are your hobbies/past-times outside of hockey?
My hobbies are camping, collecting coins, relaxing and I also ref outdoor soccer.
What are your goals for the 2019/2020 season?
My goals for this upcoming season would be to help supervise and recruit young officials that want to learn and keep moving up.
What advice would you give to a new or young official?
For advise; just be yourself and work hard to do and be the best you can on the ice. Don’t be afraid to ask
