Grassroots Coach Application

The Job:

As a Tournament Grassroots Officials Coach you will attend assigned tournament(s) and coach officials at the U11 and U13 levels. Your dedication to the tournament and program will assist in the development of grassroots officials providing the feedback and coaching and direction for officials to excel to the next level of officiating. As a coach in the program there is a level of dedication that is required as well as requirements those are outline below:

Experience:

As a coach you do not have to be an active official but are required to have a minimum of 12 years of officiating experience, and a current understanding of all procedures and playing rules.

Requirements:

•     Have reliable transportation
•     Dressed professionally, clean pants, collared shirt, no baseball cap
•     Able to fully commit and attend full duration of tournament
•     Coordinate with coach assignor and local RIC tournament details as well official game assignments
•     Provide a report on the officials coached to the RIC and the Officials Grassroots Coordinator at the conclusion of the tournament
•     Complete Hockey Alberta online expense form

Commitment:

A commitment of attending two or more tournaments during the season is preferred. These tournaments will be coordinated with your coach assignor and be within 250 km of your home, although tournaments outside of the range of 250 km could still be coached by yourself with approval from the Hockey Alberta Grassroots Coordinator. Pre and post-tournament tasks are required via email and phone calls, including Zoom meetings hosted by the Provincial Grassroots coordinator.

Compensation:

Compensation for your time and dedication will be provided in the form of an honorarium based on:
-$200/full day honorarium ($400 for full weekend)
-41 cents/km travel
-1 night hotel stay if 150km away from home
-Meals allowance with receipts to a maximum $20 Breakfast/$20 Lunch/$25 Supper
Honorariums will be paid by Hockey Alberta via direct deposit once all required payroll information is provided and an online Hockey Alberta Expense form is submitted. Fulfillment of the outline job description must be achieved to receive compensation.

Coaching positions will be appointed accordingly to distribution resources and experience to benefit the success of the program.
